Helambu
Tamang and Sherpa villages within striking distance of Kathmandu. Low altitude, easy access, all-season.
Overview
The Helambu trek is a gentle, low-altitude cultural circuit through the Sherpa (Hyolmo) and Tamang villages of the Helambu region, just north-east of Kathmandu. With forests, terraced hills, monasteries and warm village hospitality — and altitudes mostly under 3,600 m — it is one of the most relaxed and accessible treks in Nepal.
Its proximity to the capital, mild altitude and year-round feasibility make it ideal for beginners, families and those short on time, with the option to extend over Laurebina La to Gosaikunda.
